MARSHALL COUNTY, W.Va. (WTRF) - Marshall County Commissioners approved a lot of day-to-day business during their rescheduled meeting Wednesday morning.

Commissioners approved $8,900 for two local projects in the county including Relay for Life and the Cinderella Project.

“The Cinderella Project, which we give money to. It's a great organization that takes care of a lot of the underprivileged kids. Gives them gowns for the prom, jewelry and takes care of a lot of things for kids that are actually in need. That's what our funding is for, to take care of as many people as we possibly can in a way that that shows that we care about the people of Marshall County.”

Mike Ferro | President, Marshall County Commission

New business action included approval of 2024 appointment of ballot commissioners, Kathy Jefferson (Republican) and Arthur (Sonny) Oakland (Democrat).

Commissioners also approved a contract agreement to repair the HVAC system in the public safety building, a project estimated to cost $1.1 million. The repairs are expected to begin around July or August of this year.

Another notable approval was an increase for 911 shift supervisors and trainers. Commissioners approved and adopted the policy allowing a one-time pay increase of $1500 for shift supervisors and $750 for trainers.

Ferro also talked about his most recent visit to Charleston, saying all the commissioners are focused on working with and for the people of Marshall County.

The courthouse project is moving forward with an expected substantial completion date of March 18.

The Health Department project is also on schedule.

The next commission meeting is Feb. 20 at 9 a.m.
